English saddles are great if you are trying to be sporting, but they aren't much good for working cattle. You want to choose your saddle based on what you intend to do with your horse. Either one requires balance and horsemanship. It isn't horse rding saddles that holds you on the horse, its your leg and trunk strength and your balance. If you let the saddle and reins hold you on your horse, you'll do injury to the horse's back, mouth and probably kidneys.
